Lab-Volt Celebrates 50 Years

Lab-Volt Systems, Inc. recently celebrated its 50th birthday as the world leader of technical education; longer than any other technology education company!

As a leading manufacturer and designer of technical training systems worldwide, Lab-Volt has incorporated the whole of its educational and technical expertise into the curriculum design, delivery systems, equipment packaging, and servicing of its educational training systems. The winner of more gold and silver Worlddidac awards than any other manufacturer, Lab-Volt’s approach to education emphasizes the coordination of specially tailored software with real-world hardware and equipment for products such as Electricity and Electronics, FACET (Fault-Assisted Circuits for Electronics Training), Electric Power and Controls, Telecommunications, Fluid Power, Instrumentation and Process Control, HVAC, and, most recently, Wind Power Technology.

Over the course of its 50 years, Lab-Volt has gained prominence as a developer of computer-based learning systems, simulation training software, and modular multimedia educational programs with supporting classroom management systems, as well as web-based training programs. Lab-Volt’s Tech-Design program has led the way in meeting the highest educational standards available in modular technology education today, using the most effective pedagogical techniques to provide a multilevel, competency-based, and interactive multimedia curriculum.

Lab-Volt is committed to remaining at the cutting edge of current technologies. Its state-of-the-art Telecommunications Training Systems form an essential training program for students with interest in the dynamic and growing communications industry. Because the program is completely modular in design, students may enter at any level according to their career goals and abilities to learn systems such as Radar Training, Microwave Training, Telephony Training, Analog and Digital Communications, Fiber Optic Communications, Transmission Lines, and QPSK/OQPSK/DPSK.

In 2005, Lab-Volt acquired the e-learning programs of Utah-based Industrial Training Zone (ITZ), adding award-winning, state of the art multimedia and web-based e-learning content to Lab-Volt’s extensive line of hands-on training products; another milestone in the Company’s move into high-performance career and workforce development. Last year, Lab-Volt was awarded a contract with the US Army Ordnance Mechanical Maintenance School (USAOMMS) at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, where its ITZ content is being used to teach maintenance of such army equipment as M1 Abrams tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles, and related weaponry.

While domestic sales remain vibrant, the growth of international sales has also sky-rocketed, exceeding North American orders for 2007. Early this year, Lab-Volt announced the signing of a project with the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (POLRI) in which the company will be supplying laboratories and curriculum to train POLRI’s technicians to maintain their electronic, telecommunications, power generation, and air conditioning equipment. Through a subcontract with the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), Lab-Volt will also be providing training in the latest policing techniques and strategies. With a force of 118,000 officers stationed throughout the island nation, POLRI is one of the largest users of electronic, telecommunications, electric generating, and air conditioning gear in Indonesia. When they indicated an interest in receiving updated training in policing techniques and strategies, Lab-Volt called upon the JIBC, one of the leading North American providers of courses and curriculum in these areas. Whenever an overseas customer requests help in updating their curriculum or establishing a new one, Lab-Volt is pleased to solicit the participation of interested North American colleges and universities.

Educationally, Lab-Volt continues to innovate, recently developing the new STEMCART™ by Lab-Volt; a mobile demonstration cart that that integrates the elements of the STEM initiative (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) to provide rich laboratory experiences that can be shared among various middle and high school classrooms.

Today, Lab-Volt remains a leader and pacesetter in the world of technical training and technology education. The company continues to enjoy a reputation in both the domestic and international training communities as the leading developer of hands-on technical hardware and courseware, Computer-Based Learning programs, eLearning courses, and educational innovation.
